Birthdays in my life help me recall my childhood. My parents (and yes, my brother also) were excellent at celebrating my life. They, like my wife and children today, knew how to set me on top of the world. Maybe that's because they knew how to express one simple thing: their love.
I think birthdays are for love. They may be more fun for children, but at their core, they are about love. That's because somewhere deep inside us we resonate with God's own celebration. God celebrates life. It was His idea. He created you and me. That also means (based upon scriptural implication) that the angelic host celebrates us too. Just how many of God's creatures are rooting you on today? That's right - they are rooting you on. So God looks over all our days. He's not just about birthdays. He's about every day - even today.
So let's not worry about the ticking of time. Let's not let it get us down. Let it be a reminder that although daily we may feel like we're slipping from this life, daily also we are gaining a far greater future. A future filled with life and a future filled with love.
Keep looking ahead,
